בפרויקט הגמר שלי אני בוחנת את הקשר הסבוך שבין נשים לשמלות כלה, ובאופן רחב יותר – לאירוע החתונה כולו, שעליו לימדו אותנו לחלום עוד מילדות.
מתוך מבט ביקורתי ובאמצעות הומור, אני מבקשת לאתגר נורמות קיימות ולערער על התפיסה הרומנטית והאידילית של מוסד החתונה.

הקולקציה נעה על התפר שבין אופנת סטריט לאוונגרד, ומשלבת פרשנויות ספקולטיביות עם עיצוב עכשווי.
כל דגם מייצג התמודדות שונה עם הדימוי הכלתי – לעיתים כהגזמה, לעיתים כהומור ולעיתים כביטוי אישי ואינטימי.
בדגמים, שאלתי שאלות כמו: "מי לובש את מי – השמלה את הכלה או הכלה את השמלה?"
עבדתי עם חומרים מגוונים מתחומי שמלות הכלה ואופנת הרחוב, חקרתי צלליות ופריטים משני העולמות, ויצרתי ביניהם הכלאות.
מטרתי ליצור שיח פתוח ומורכב על המשמעויות שמלבישה החברה על גוף האישה ביום "הגדול", ולאפשר מרחב לביטוי עצמי שאינו כפוף לקודים מסורתיים.

Shay greenberg // The dress code

In my final project, I examine the complex relationship between women and wedding dresses, and more broadly – with the entire wedding event, which we were taught to dream about since childhood.
From a critical perspective and through the use of humor, I seek to challenge existing norms and question the romantic and idyllic perception of the institution of marriage.

The collection moves along the seam between street fashion and avant-garde, combining speculative interpretations with contemporary design.
Each piece represents a different way of grappling with the bridal image – at times as exaggeration, at times as humor, and at times as a personal and intimate expression.

I asked questions such as: “Who wears whom – does the bride wear the dress, or does the dress wear the bride?”
I worked with diverse materials drawn from the worlds of bridal gowns and streetwear, explored silhouettes and items from both realms, and created hybrids between them.
My goal was to create an open and layered conversation about the meanings that society places on the female body on the so-called “big day,” and to allow space for self-expression that is not bound by traditional codes.
