במהלך ארוחת שישי, לאחר שאמי נפטרה ואבי חלה, אמרתי בצחוק לאחיי:
"בסוף עוד נגור כולנו במחלקה האונקולוגית."
הבדיחה הזו, מרה וצורבת, סימנה את הדרך שבה אני מתמודדת עם אובדן: דרך הומור שחור, כזה שצוחק ובוכה באותה נשימה. כזה שמרשה לעצמו לשהות בכאב מבלי לטשטש אותו.

הקולקציה שלי נולדה מהמרחב הזה – מהמפגש בין רגש קיומי לעיצוב חזותי.
ההשראה שלי נטועה בעולם הגרוטסקי, הלא נעים. אני שואבת פחדים ומפענחת אותם חומרית: פחד מהמוות, ממלחמה ביולוגית, מהרפואה ככוח מנוכר, מהרס וכאב.
הויזואליה נבנית מדימויים כמו חליפות מגן, סימני אזהרה (hazard), ציוד רפואי, דם, פצצות אטום וצלקות – סמלים של חרדה, של שליטה, ושל שבר.

אבל דווקא מתוך האימה, אני בוחרת לגחך.
להכניס צבעוניות וצחוק אל המקומות האפלים ביותר. להמיר איום לאסתטיקה,

כאב להומור, שיתוק לפעולה.

זו אינה קולקציה שמנסה להרגיע – אלא להפר.
היא עוסקת בטאבו: באבל, בגוף, בהומור, בכיעור. היא מציעה שפה חדשה לאובדן – בועטת, פצועה, נושמת
 

Maya Kedmi // See You in Oncology

During a Friday night dinner—after my mother had passed and my father had fallen ill—I joked to my siblings:

"Eventually, we’ll all end up living back togather in the oncology ward."

That bitter, cutting line captured how I cope with grief: through black humor. A kind of laughter that holds pain without erasing it, that dares to stay inside the ache and make it speak.

This collection was born in that space—where emotional intensity meets visual language.

My inspiration is rooted in the grotesque and the uncomfortable. I take fear and make it material: fear of death, of biological warfare, of medicine as a cold system, of destruction and vulnerability.

The visual language is built from imagery like protective suits, hazard signs, medical gear, blood, atomic bombs, and scars—symbols of anxiety, control, and collapse.

But from within the horror, I choose to mock it.

To inject color and laughter into the darkest places. To transform threat into aesthetics, pain into satire, paralysis into creation.

This isn’t a collection that tries to soothe.

It disturbs. It provokes.

It confronts taboos—grief, the body, humor, ugliness—and dares to give them form, texture, and voice.
