המילה "נפש" לא קיימת במלואה בתפיסה המסורתית של החברה האתיופית, ובחברה שמרנית המבוססת על נורמות של כוח, כבוד וצייתנות למסורת, העיסוק בנפש נחשב לטאבו. גדלתי עם תחושת נתק בין מה שאני מרגישה לבין מה שאני מציגה – במקום שבו איפוק הוא כוח וחולשה היא אסורה.
בחרתי לבטא את המורכבות הזו דרך עיצוב בגדי גברים, תוך שילוב אלמנטים נשיים המושפעים מנשות העדה האתיופית המבוגרות – נשים שנשאו עול פיזי ונפשי אדיר מבלי להפגין כאב.

הקולקציה משלבת חייטות מדויקת וצבעי אדמה. החומרים כוללים צמרים, כותנה ועור – בחירה שמבטאת את המתח בין קשיחות לרוך, בין מסורת לעדינות. יצרתי בה סריגים והדפסים בהשראת מלאכות מסורתיות – כביטוי חזותי למורשת, כאב, ועוצמה שקטה
הקולקציה מבקשת לפתוח שיח חדש על גבריות, רכות, וכוח שקט. זהו מסע רגשי־חזותי שמחבר בין מורשת, כאב, עוצמה, והנפש שעד כה נאלצה לשתוק.

In traditional Ethiopian society, the word “Nefesh” (soul) does not fully exist. In a conservative culture based on power, honor, and obedience to tradition, discussing the soul is taboo. I grew up feeling a disconnect between what I feel inside and what I show outwardly—in a place where
restraint is strength and weakness is not allowed.
I chose to express this complexity through menswear, incorporating feminine elements inspired by elderly Ethiopian women—women who carried heavy physical and emotional burdens without showing pain.

The collection combines precise tailoring and earth tones from my parents’ villages. Materials include wool, cotton, and leather—a choice reflecting the tension between toughness and softness, tradition and delicacy.
I created knits and prints inspired by traditional crafts as a visual expression of heritage, pain, and quiet strength.
This collection opens a new dialogue about masculinity, gentleness, and quiet strength. It is an emotional and visual journey connecting heritage, pain, power, and the soul that was once forced to remain silent.
